3 light sources
As we’ve just completed the Radlett lighting company project, we thought we would fill you in with the three lighting sources to keep in mind when designing a room or area
The beautiful effects of layering lighting are that; it can make an area and room so much more appealing, it adds depth whilst also being able to create different moods. Want to create a cosier feeling in them dark winter evenings? Or on the other side maybe you need to see the beauty in objects, art, or the room itself and the three different lights will allow you to do this.
Firstly, let’s talk about your main light, also known as the Ambient light. The ambient light gives your room the first source of lighting, allowing you to move freely without bumping into things. This lighting is usually the brightest, although can be added to a dimmer switch which can then be toned down or brightened when wanted. Your ambient light is over head, this can be a chandelier, pendant lighting or even spotlights
Moving on to accent lights. These are definitely my favourite source of lighting out of the three. These lights create then pockets of light that adds depth to a room and my personal favourite, they can be used to highlight a focal point, artwork or anything that you would like to highlight.
Finally, task lighting, now this is pretty self-explanatory. Task lighting is used to highlight a area where you may complete a task, such as reading and writing. The best type of task lights are on a dimmer switch. This can help to prevent eye strain and reduce glare.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and week, and I’ll see you next week for more tips and tricks! Talk soon and take care!
