Want to create a cosy Christmas feel?

Here are a few steps I take to create this mood/feeling in my family home. I currently live with my parents, trying to save for my first home. The past few years haven’t been easy with covid but now that we’re coming out the other side of it (hopefully) I feel like we can get back to celebrating Christmas properly again with all the family

One main thing we do around this time is to stop using our main light (spotlights, pendent lights etc..) as much! Instead use table lamps, floor lamps and even wall lights. Opt for a warmer bulb at this time too, change lampshades to something with a warmer colour and add textures with fabrics.

In my previous blog I explained to you a few steps how I put together my Christmas tree, with that information use your Christmas tree to add lighting. The lights on the Christmas tree provide a great lighting source. Depending on the colours of your lights you can add in different moods, if you have lots

of different colours then you can add that element of fun or maybe you have just the one colour and it’s a warm yellow, you’ve just added an element of warmth and cosiness that you were after!

I don’t know about you but we’ve just had 4 inches of snow here, and what a picturesque view it has created when we look out the window. (Our chickens have really liked it too, its added a layer of warmth on top of their house.) With outside looking so beautiful frame your curtains around the window, add a decorative light or curtain lighting to enhance instead of taking away from your view.

Finally candles. When else can you really use candles, this is the best time for it. As long as you’re being safe with how you are using and placing them, I say go crazy. Especially with the cost of living at the moment they’re not along creating a cosy feeling but also saving on electricity. Bonus, right?
